Approach from Stuttgart, or Würzburg or Munich:

There are many options to reach the starting point of this description: Autobahn A8 (München-Ulm-Stuttgart) with Autobahn A7 (Würzburg-Ulm-Füssen) at the intersection Autobahnkreuz Ulm-Elchingen.  The description starts there. Take Autobahn A7 southbound (Memmingen - Füssen) to the next large intersection "Memmingen" with Autobahn A96 (ca. 53 km), turn right there to Autobahn A96 heading to Lindau. Stay on the road until Wangen-Nord. Take exit Wangen-Nord (ca. 91 km from Ulm), and use highway B18 in southern direction Wangen – Lindenberg. After 4 km, while passing-by Wangen, you take a left to Schwarzenberg-Wohmbrechts at km 96.5. You come through Wohmbrechts, and in Heimenkirch-Mekatz you intersect with B32,which you take left (south). The landscape stays hilly, at km 109 you pass by Lindenberg and reach the end of B32 in a roundabout with highway B308. Do not take the second exit to Weiler, take the third one to Simmerberg, marked "Immenstadt"  and "Oberstaufen". After three km on B308 the next Simmerberg roundabout is reached. Please take the third exit. Soon the village begins, and the road "Alte Salzstrasse" winds through for 1.3 kms. Main direction is east, follow the signs to Oberstaufen-Burkatshofen. After the third right bend, while passing the the fire station on left, a divider in the middle of the road follows. After that, another road diviates to the right, marked by a yellow sign "Langenried". Please follow that for about 150 m. On left you observe the new condominium. A small road diviates to the left, leading to guest parking. Our parking lot is at the north front of the house, the leftmost in the row. The main entrance is at the west side of the complex.

Access by car from south / west

Approach from Switzerland, or Vorarlberg/Bregenz, or Friedrichshafen or Lindau:

In Austria you can chose the Autobahn A14/E60, running through the Pfänder tunnel into Germany. That is a toll road, but at a reduced rate: 2 € toll per direction, if no general Austrian toll sticker is provided in the car. Alternatively you may use the Austrian B190 to Lindau. The Autobahn will change to number A96 in Germany, the highway B190 will turn into the German  B12.

From Friedrichshafen, you will come through highway B31, heading to Lindau. Before you reach Lindau, the B31 will end at the cross section with highway B12. At that place, the B308 starts, called Alpenstraße. Just go ahead! If  you come from Austria via Autobahn A14/A96, please exit at "Lindau-Nord", and you are right at B308, only 22 km apart from us. Please follow route B308 in the direction of Immenstadt/Lindenberg/Oberstaufen until you reach the Simmerberg roundabout. The third exit from the roundabout is the correct one. Soon the village begins, and the road "Alte Salzstrasse" winds through for 1.3 kms. After the third right bend, while passing the grave yard and the fire station on left, a divider in the middle of the road follows. After that, another road diviates to the right, marked by a yellow sign "Langenried". Please follow that for about 150 m. On left you observe the condominium. A small road diviates to the left, leading to guest parking. Our parking lot is right at the north front of the house, the last in the row. The main entrance is at the west side of the complex.

Access by car from the area Oberstdorf, Sonthofen, Immenstadt.

Coming from Oberstdorf, one will most probably travel the 4-lane B19, heading north. The first exit for Immenstadt is "Immenstadt Industrie, Rettenberg", that is taken. At the end of the acces road, one keeps right onto the road B308 to Immenstadt. After a while, the ride leads through Immenstadt, passing several roundabouts, always keeping the Oberstaufen direction. After Immenstadt, one will pass the industry complex of Kunert, with a large factory outlet on right. Than the road leads along the shore of the lake Alpsee, and for about 10 km through a nice, wide valley. At the valley´s end, on left comes up the ski area "Hündle", with the chairlift in sight, and the road offers a branch to "Isny and Stiefenhofen", passing beneath the railroad right after the fork. That direction is chosen for the next 5 km. It leads through the villages of Wengen,  Kalzhofen (careful: 30 kmh!), and Buflings. After that, a narrow bridge spans over the railroad, followed by a 90 degree left curve. Right after that curve is a little, white chapel. There the raod branches again,  the left part is ours, already marked "Simmerberg". Now, only 6 km are left. The road proceeds through Genhofen, followed by a steep ascent to the Hahnschenkel pass. After the pass, a beautiful view into Western Algovia opens up. Next we come through Burkartshofen (50 kmh!), and through the Nagelshub village. After having passed a repair shop on left and some green houses on right, Simmerberg is entered. After the 5th house on left, a small road deviates to the left. Please enters soon there. The third building on left is your target. The leftmost visitors parking lot is ours. The main entrance is around the house on the west side.

The route, again from Ulm, leads through Kempten and Immenstadt, further towards Lindau. The target station is Röthenbach. The typical travelling time from Ulm is 1 to 1.5 hours . If the train was heading to Oberstdorf, one must exit in Immenstadt and change trains to Lindau. From Frankfurt or Darmstadt, the trip time is between 4 and 4.5 hours.
